Simple Question About Installing TF2 Server
#1
I currently have both HL2DM and CSS dedicated servers installed in the following directory: C:\SRCDS. I now wish to add the TF2 server. Should my install directory be C:\SRCDS or do I need to specify C:\SRCDS\Orangebox for the HldsUpdateTool? I don't want the new TF2 "engine" to screw up my current installs. I don't know if that would happen or not. Thanks for the help.

It won't screw up current installs, simply throw it in the same folder, if it throws errors update with -verify_all till it doesn't give errors Wink

So does an Orangebox directory (or perhaps just a TF2 directory) get created automatically? I guess I was under the impression that new TF2 files should be kept separate from original dedicated server files.

Yes, it creates an orangebox directory and puts the tf files inside. You don't need to specify any additional folders.

EDIT: I should note that, while what I said is true, I do not have any other installations and I do not know if there would be any negative interaction between them (although I doubt it).

I currently have 7 mods running of 1 server installation folder, everything will be kept separate with their own files.
