Server slot sizes
#1
As far as the windows server slot sizes go, I am unable to make a server bigger then 16 slots..

I have the internet bandwidth and computer hardware to host a 70 person slot server and would like to at least host a 60 slot server. Is there any way to hack the srcds exe or similar to allow this to happen?

I remember there being a limit to the max players in hl2dm. I think there is a way around this, but I don't remember. Try searching google Big Grin

You need a Hex editor to mod your hl2mp\bin\server.dll to allow for >16 players.

Far as i know, principle for hl2mp is the same as TF2 shown above.

for the longest time hl2dm netcode was fuxxored, it would megalag for 12 players and above (12 might have been safe, it was a while ago). I do not know if this is related to the built-in restriction, but I recommend proceeding with caution. Also, are you reducing your tickrates to account for such a large slotted server? As well as having large enough maps to account for that many players? (btw, holy shit, 60 player hl2dm server)

You can run 60 players, but its been reported that the netcode starts going 'funky' past 32 slots - same for TF2.

What game has maps large enough to have 70 people playing? That's 35 people on a TEAM! You're better off just hosting 2 or 3 more servers.

All you need is a 32 slot? Check out this thread: http://forums.srcds.com/viewtopic/5319

EDIT: But steam doesn't list any servers with over 24 slots anyways.
Also, you said you wanted a "70 person slot server." Thats 70 people in one game.

It's HL2DM he's trying to host, not TF2.

I've modded a server.dll to allow 32, 64 and 128 players for you, but my FTP is down just now. Will post it when its back up.

For HL2MP

32/64/128 Players server.dll (Windows):

http://youngteam.eu/files/hl2mp/v1.0.0.12/server.dll.zip

How-To

Back-up your existing server.dll from \hl2mp\bin before replacing. Choose the server.dll corresponding to how many slots you want to run and rename it "server.dll".

After you've replaced the file, go to \hl2mp\cfg\valve.rc and open this file in notepad or something similar. Add:

Code:
maxplayers 32|64|128

depending on how many slots you want and add the usual:

Code:
+maxplayers 32|64|128

(again depending on how many slots you want) in your startup parameters.
