OK i dont know what to do anymore

Ok first off let me start by saying i just got a wireless router and want to run a server, my cable modem is a westell 6100, my router is netgear WGT624v3. Also before you ask YES i have gone to http://www.portforward.com and forwarded all the necessary ports.

So far this is what i have done, the firewall on the westell 6100 modem is OFF, and i have static nat letting everything through to my routers STATIC ip address.

IT STILL DOESNT WORK, i have all ports fowarded I EVEN TRIED USING DMZ, can someone plz tell me wtf is going on?

i put IN SHORTCUT srcds command line -ip (insert internal computer ip here) and -port 27015

and i put in my server.cfg (though i dont know if this is necessary) my external IP address. and also port 27015

someone plz tell me why this isnt working even when i let everything through

edit: i would just like to add that NO software firewall/antivirus/spyware remover is blocking srcds, the firewall i had up was up before when the server was working, and i had since then added nothing new, save for the router.

I don't even use the -ip one. I don't use ANY ip command at all. Except of course the -port. But try removing the -ip commands, both in the cfg and in the startup line.

Try checking/removing anything you from the beginning thought was needed.

I did what you said still did not work, so i unplugged the router and plugged my computer DIRECTLY INTO the modem, i made sure all the ports were forwarded and everything was fine, didnt work...... afterwards i enabled the static nat to my ip address (meaning NOTHING should be blocked access from my computer) AND IT STILL DIDNT WORK! i turned off all my firewalls made sure nothing was blocking and heartbeat + sv_lan was in my server.cfg.

Im about to just give up this is so ****ing annoying i had it running and now its like it just decided not to work.

edit: also YES i do have a static IP and YES i made sure all the ports were forwarded to that ip address (which with static nat I SHOULDNT EVEN HAVE TO PORT FORWARD, or so i was told).

If it didn't work with a direct connection then it's a problem on the PC, make sure no firewall or anti virus utility is blocking it in any way.

agree with drocona, if it doesn't work directly plugged into the modem, theres a firewall issue on the pc running the server, or there is still something blocking the ports on your modem.

When you plug into the modem direct what ip does the pc have? If it has a 192... then chances are theres something in the modem you will have to open up. Also make sure you are trying the right ip to connect. you would have to connect to the lan ip on the local network, and the external ip from internet land.

I know it may seem like I am repeating what you have said, but it is easy to miss one little thing, and that will make it not work at all.

Anyway, even though it didnt work when u plugged directly into the modem, i defenitly wouldnt use the Ip command behind a router. I tried doing that and it would not work ever. Its probably not the problem, but just figured i would tell you that. Also the srcds might not work because it is installed wrong? Its worth a try any how. Maybe the router is trying to assign you a different ip address then your static one. Check on that. Also your server might not work, but can you access the internet on the server?
