Well if you search google for gungame you'll find a link to the gungame file download.
Download the file, extract it.
Open the manual and follow it.
Gungame works.

Since nobody has bookmarks to the 'official' site:

The GunGame Forum is where to find the latest stuff.
http://forums.mattie.info/cs/forums/viewforum.php?f=45

The download thread will list the required dependencies, such as EventScripts and ES_Tools.

I'm in the process of figuring out auto respawn (I think it's the Death Match setting in the gg config).

Don't be so lazy, learn to use google and it will benefit you, but above all a LOT of other people, for the rest of your life.

No criticism, just a highly recommended recommendation.

I would rather spend 30 seconds of my time posting a known good direct link than force someone new to setting up gun game to spend 30 minutes to find the right site.

And, by posting the link on here, the search feature for THIS forum (and this forum's content) becomes that much more useful.

Is it really a crime to post information about setting up a dedicated server on a forum about setting up dedicated servers?

It's not a crime but you know, when someone gets here I assume that mister/woman wants to learn how to make a server, then if we start doing the job for them, will they ever learn themselves? no

They will keep coming back with questions, ask us, costs us time, costs them time, we not available, they not available etc etc. 3 years later they still don't know because we do all the work.

Get what I mean, also it was generalization, I don't know by 3 lines you wrote if you are the type of guy that keeps bashing us with questions that can be answered by a 8 year old with common sense or you are the type that learns and just is out of options. I have nothing against you really, things is we are volunteers here and it would really help to actually teach 7 thousand people to work it their selves instead of asking us day in day out Big Grin

In my case, I was trying to figure out how to get autorespawn to work (which I know know is called Death Match). Then I wanted it to give me the next gun immediately, which I now know is called Turbo Mode.

I searched google, this forum, and the mattie.info forum to little avail.

I ended up looking through the es_gungame3.txt and GUESSING at which configuration to change.

I would have to estimate that less than 1 out of 10000 8 year olds know that a server is a computer running special software. I would assume that if someone found this forum to ask a question about setting up a server, that only a few, if any, 8 year olds in the world would be able to answer there questions.

I don't see why someone is lazy when they have spent the time to post a question on a forum about setting up source servers. Personally, I would rather find the answer myself than hope that someone on this forum will answer it.

I usually end up finding the answer a few days later somewhere else, and posting the answer back here. Then, in 3 months when I've forgotten what to do, I can look up my old post. Why? Because srcds.com is easy to remember, and people with the same questions frequent here.

And that's the thing, I don't want to be an expert on the subject. I just want to find which setting to change and go back to playing the game. It's getting harder and harder to find what I'm looking for on google (combination of junk sites and my specific searches). I would prefer to look in one easy to find place for the answer.

Unfortunately, gungame_v3.4.81.zip doesn't come with a manual. Just some commented eventscripts.

No hard feelings mate, as I said it was a statement out of the blue, not specifically directed to you, even if I could smell scents through a computer, I still wouldn't be able to smell if you used the search or not or whatever time you put into it.

Back to gungame:

There used to be a wiki online with a lot of info on it, however I can't seem to be able to find that anymore (seems to have disappeared), all I could find was this link: http://www.cagemonkey.org/forum/gungame.php It's from the creators, it should get you in the right direction, it isn't much, I'll look into my own gungame install how it's built up (I can't seem to remember from teh top of my head)

Thanks. I've got it working the way I want now. Just have to change the map cycle.

What are the prospects of having a wiki here?

We are planning on a knowledge database, wiki we are not sure of yet as it is a lot of work to maintain and keep clean with the correct information. But there have been some developments going on ever since 2003 or so, there is a whole new layout and stuff in the making, we just don't know when it will be finished Smile

You know that 2003 was over 5 years ago Sad

I do agree that any kind of knowledge base/wiki is time consuming, especially getting the information straight. It would be nice to have a central location for information that anyone can keep up to date.
