Intermittent connection issues with my server
#1
Question
I'm hosting a CSS surf server on my university's internet connection. It all seemed to be working at first, but people will randomly get dropped, and random errors such as the following pop up:

Netchannel: failed processing message svc_PacketEntities.
something about CL_flushentitypacket
These are often followed by "update delta not found"

and then sometimes it just gives me a complete boot from the game, not showing anything unless I open the console, and this will be the last entry:

Host_Error: CL_CopyExistingEntity: missing client entity 467.

with random numbers there each time it happens.

I read that the flushentitypacket error indicates something about UDP traffic shaping over the network, which I wouldn't rule out, but I would appreciate if someone can give me some insight into what is happening and how I might go about fixing it.

I'm fairly sure that nothing is totally blocked, because people can connect but seem to be randomly kicked. I'm running this server over a router in my dorm, sharing the internet with my desktop computer. I even went as far as to DMZ the server with no luck. Like I said earlier, if anyone can offer any advice, please do. If you need any more info from me please let me know as well.

The flushentity packet is still pretty unknown, I do not have better knowledge how to fix it other than a reinstall...
Any information on this subject is welcome, cause who wants a reinstall right?!

Well if it were only me, I'd be like whatever and just redownload CS, but other people complain about getting kicked from my server as well. And I know at the very least that other people sometimes get

Netchannel: failed processing message svc_PacketEntities.

I wish valve would poke their heads into these forums sometimes and see what the common problems are and fix them...

Would your server happen to be of the linksys brand? If so, check:

Make sure you Disable UPnP
Disable "Block wan request"
Enable "filter NAT redirection"

I was poking around earlier and tried those things. I've got everything set like above except the last one, filter NAT redirection, because enabling just blocked everyone from connecting.

It seems as though it might simply be a network-load thing, because it just about disappears later in the evening.

Something interesting...It seems I am the only one having problems, and that is when I try to join via my game from the normal servers list. Everything works fine if I join from LAN, and no one else seems to be having any problems.

It's a client only problem indeed, but what it is exactly... I have no idea, from what I read it's a debugging feature but shouldn't be able to execute or just do something different the other day.

What I am thinking about is hardware, a friend of mine has had it 2 times now on the same PC, I've never had it in my whole life.

I was doing some poking around on google, and it was hinted that this may be a soundcard issue. It's odd though that CSS is the only game or application giving me and trouble at all, and furthermore I only experience it when I try to connect to my server using the external IP and not via LAN. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll just go away on it's own, maybe not. I know I have the latest soundcard drivers and really don't feel like buying a new one or using my mobo's iffy onboard audio.

SRCDS forum is sharing the topic about the source dedicated server that is brought up by the Windows. This is by the intermittent connection issue with my server at assignment writing services to make the topic by the junior member who is a host here at that point.
