True, its easier, however, using the GUI uses resources.

I just got my new server its running fine atm took me 3 days to work out how to configure the firewall but. I had never even seen a linux bash cli before in my life. so i figure thts ok.Right i dont know everything bout computers and operating systems im only 15 but i didnt find it too hard to learn the basic linux stuff. i believe you will find linux is faster than windows mainly because of its default state being very stripped down and i seem to find things process faster on my suse linux i downloaded to practice on. I like the way linux is free (this is main reason i chose linux) cost £10 a month more for windows so i didnt see the point.Tbh when seeing some of the functions like the console and stuff like tht could be used only on windows it pissed me off a bit. I find that my 22man 100tick server uses very little ram which surprised me. It gobbles the cpu though about 50% not that bad spose but cud be better my machine is a single xeon 2ghz with 2mb cache and 1gig of ram it only uses 30% of ram when changing maps and you really can tell the difference when you change map in the game.
Anyway i kinda started this server thing as a bet with my friends they bet me £10 that i couldnt set up a server and here i am. I plan to rent out a few of the gameservers to cover my costs but dont want to make too much profit maybee £10 a month on each server. But once you get past the first hurdle of linux it isnt that bad and when i get another server it will almost definately be linux.

That was the easiest thing I have ever setup on linux.

i prefer debian linux.
one thing although is that a default setup of debian gives you a max of 332 fps in the server. you need to manualy increase the hz of your kernel to 1000 to get the 500 fps.

Windows probably has much better compatiblility, but linux has better CPU/mem management. For ease of use, most people will choose Windows...
