Server IP and Master List problems
#1
Hi

just wanted to ask for a little help.

srcds.exe -console -game cstrike -autoupdate -pingboost 1 -tickrate 66 -27015 +map aim_ag_texture7 +maxplayers 16

when i put in the -ip xx.xx.xxx.xx (my external ip) I get the error cannot allocate the udp port.

If I say use gametiger and type in my ip, it lists my server with random ports say port 65498, which is not even open? But i dont think my server shows up on the masterlist, and when one of my friends joined from outside the network, with the ip, and typed in status in the console, it told him the internal IP of the server.

If you try to add the server to your favorites it doesnt work either..

any help? I just want to get it to show on the master server list, and be addable as a favorite, (Sorry if i Just made up my own words Lol)

Thanks any help is appreciated...

Are you behind a router?

Yes I am Behind a....F5D8230-4 or Belkin Pre-n Router, I have the port 27015 open on both TCP and UDP, i used to have 27015-27030 open but it didnt make a difference. I have tried making it the DMZ no real change either.

try dmzing these port ranges:

TCP: 27030 - 27039
UDP: 27000 - 27015 and 1200

They're from the preset upnp profile for css on one of my routers...

Also, may sound stupid but I'd rather you check if you continue:

Is your external IP dynamic or static?

I opened those ports to, doesnt seem to affect anything but I will have some friends check...also I am technically a dynamic IP address, but I'm on a cable modem, and I'm pretty sure my Ip wont change unless I did a soft reset on the cable modem cause its been the same for the past 6 months,

anyways if you want to see whats really weird try to gametiger.com
address- 75.85.200.13. and see how many servers it shows and random ports.

Also, http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?search=75.85.200.13&type=server - shows no game servers.

Thanks, typo there, i corrected that -port 27015,
are you supposed to have a -ip in the command ?

and if so which ip internal or external?

Your right it doesnt show up on game monitor but it does on gametiger on weird port numbers...

any reason why it wont show up on game monitor?

If you use the -ip switch you'll have to use your internal IP

the weird port means that the port forwarding isn't correct or the router just doesn't want it to work.

normally no, but when you have multiple IP adresses on the same computer (most common know is when you have an internet connection and hamachi running) you have to tell the srcds what ip to use, for example either hamachi or the normal ip.

if you just have a normal connection you don't need it.

oh ok, makes sense. Then I dont need to use that switch, I still have to figure out the port thing, maybe your right about my router not working right.

Do you have a router you recommend that seems to port forward correctly?

Also has anyone noticed any trouble running servers with Vista?

thanks again for the help
