Question
Hi! I have a question, can I use srcds for GMOD 10? If I can.. how can I set it up, and will my server show up on the 'find server' browser?

even better you HAVE to use srcds to run GMOD, GMOD is just as the name suspects, a mod. It needs the source engine to run.

Please look at the gmod website for more info.

The source engine is THE engine, its not a game or something.
HL2, CS:S, DOD:S etc etc are all MODS that USE the source engine.

Being it garrys 9 or 10 it doesn't matter they will run.
For installation instructions see the manufacturers website since I have no experience running this particular mod.

Google's a powerful tool with the correct keywords..

However, the only catch is that you must OWN garry's mod to run a server (or thats how it was before..)

Perhaps somebody could help me with this as well. I followed all the instructions to set up a server and everything appears to be working, except that when I start up the server, the ip of the server is a local one (192.168.0.7) and it shows up unders LAN games for anyone on my LAN. Even when I use the steam GUI and make sure that it is to be an internet game and not a local one this still happens. Does anybody know what I might do?

servers on the same network as you ALWAYS show up as LAN, it will show up for the rest of the world as internet IF the portforwarding has been done correctly!

Then I suppose I must have done the port forwarding wrong...

Is there any reason that following the instructions on portforwarding.com would not result in the game showing up for other people?

EDIT: Also, Drocona, in my struggle to find an answer to my problem and my searching of these forums, I noticed that you're everywhere basically answering the same questions over and over again, so I would like to thank you for responding to my question even though I clearly forgot to use the search function before asking.

There is a possibility that it doesn't work, some routers are just real bad and don't seem to mind the settings altho you can configure them. (I had one, it was a sweex router) I threw it away and got myself a server and a switch.

now only thing I have to do is install something and it's on the internet IMMEDIATLY without configuration

You might want to try DMZ option on the router and see if that does the trick.

and no problem, I'm trying to help here, typing the same shit all the time is annoying since there have been literally a thousand threads about this, but it's a small price for the joy someone has when it finally works.
Maybe I should just make a big tutorial on how to do it in these forums so I can point everyone there. But I'll have to make some time for that.
