Help with some probs...
#1
Hello,

I'm about to start a hl2dm clan server and its all setup but I need help with some problems I'm currently having. I'm using the mani plugin and my server is a AMD 1700+ with 1GB of ram running ubuntu linux.
  • when trying to play quake sounds it gives an cl_restrict... error
  • Loading some custom maps tend to make srcds freeze when it gets up to precaching
  • It takes a while when loading hl2dm or changing maps

If you could help me that would be great!!!

Thanks, David.

cl_restrict error => enter cl_restrict_server_commands 0 in the client console and it should work.
custom maps => not sure...
loading => If I'm correct 1700+ isn't that fast, that's most likely the problem.

The cl_restrict_server_commands has been locked out as of the last server and client updates (internally it is set at 1 restricting server commands). These updates occured this week 2007/07/11-2007/07/15 over a few updates. Anything that relies on it wont work anymore. I'm waiting on some updates to addons that rely on it too.

Thanks for your help! I have now fixed those problems, most of them were caused by bots so I got rid of them.

I'm now getting these errors ever since they updated hl2dm the other day...
  • Could not establish connection to steam servers. (So it is now not VAC2 secured)
  • netconnectionbuffer.cpp (241) : Assertion Failed: cubReadRemaining == 0 (I would have no clue what this means)

I tried updating the dedicated server installation but it made no difference!

Thanks again,
David.

There are some other users reporting this in the valve linux server issues mailing list -- so it's not just you.  I guess that there will be another fix at some point.  I'm not having the issue on my Windows based server.

If you're interested in a bunch of daily e-mails here's the page where you can join the list:

list.valvesoftware.com

I'd recommend joining both the Windows & Linux lists as there's a lot of crossover.
