Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port
#1
I know there are a million threads on this, I'm sorry, but I looked through them and I couldn't find a solution that worked for me.
Code:
srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +maxplayers 32 +map de_dust
It begins to load and I get "Engine Error: Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port"

I have an unrestricted business connection for hosting servers.  I'm also hosting a web server on this computer, so I know I can host a CS server.  This computer has its own static IP that is open to the internet - it is behind no routers.  I have all the necessary ports opened on Windows Firewall, and I'm not using any other firewalls.

The only thing I can think of that would be causing this not to work is that I'm running Windows Vista.  If there are any special configurations necessary to get it running on Vista?

Thanks in advance.[/code]

usually this only pops up when the server can't bind the given ip, if you gave an ip delete it (since it isn't in your startup parameters, check your server.cfg). If you haven't set an -ip <iphere> anywhere try to set it to the IP that shows up in cmd> type "ipconfig".

Thanks, but it didn't work.

I suspect it may be a problem with IPv6 built into Vista. Anyone know more about this or why it might be screwing it up?

I have no knowledge whatsoever with Vista yet, I'm sticking to XP till Vista proves to be better and more professional.

You can turn off IPv6 in Vista by going into Internet Connection > your_primary_connection > Properties and ticking off IPv6.
