Problem with VAC
#1
Hi,

I installed DOD:S server with srcds but I encountered a problem. I can't get my server to connect to steam servers. The server works fine, but because of this:
Quote:Adding master server 72.165.61.190:27011
Adding master server 69.28.151.162:27011
Could not establish connection to Steam servers

...I can't get the VAC working. I have opened these ports from the router
Quote:TCP/UDP: 27015
TCP/UDP: 27016
TCP/UDP: 27011
TCP/UDP: 27005
But this made no difference.

I'm starting the server with this:
Quote:c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game dod +maxplayers 13 +map dod_salerno +exec server.cfg

I'm running Windows Server 2003.

If you have any suggestions, please tell me because VAC is pretty important Toungue.

you need to add -secure as well to your startline.

like this: c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game dod +maxplayers 13 +map dod_salerno +exec server.cfg -secure

About the that you can't connect to steam servers.. i have no idea sorry

Thanks for the answer, but that didn't work. Sad

When that error pops up it means there's still something wrong with the ports, please check if you ahve these ports forwarded correctly:
UDP 1200 (Friends Network)
UDP 27000 to 27015 (Gameport)
UDP 27020
TCP 27030 to 27039
TCP 27015 (SRCDS Rcon port)

If it still fails you might want to try running DMZ on the router.

just a note: -secure is an automatic command (if it exists at all), all servers try to secure themselves automatically. You only haveto add -insecure if you want VAC to be off.

Thanks for your reply, but that didn't work either... I opened all those ports but nothing.

EDIT: Does anyone know if there's some thing like "ip's with .49 end wont work"

Don't know if this is related to your current problem or not but I had similar problem with win2003 server.

Thanks for the answer. Well I managed to block myself from the server for a day by installing a new firewall program (I'm just remotecontrolling it).

It's pretty strange why it doesn't connect to Steam servers. I have been running 2 BF2 servers and a TS server on the same machine for several months now without any problems (before you say anything about those, I must say that I have tried to start the Source server alone). I have opened all the required ports and shutted windows firewall off.

I can't just figure anything else out...

Still trying to get it work... I have double checked the ports, but they're fine. If you have any ideas, please tell me.

I think your router is incompatible, some routers don't and will never work.
If DMZ doesn't work then it's the router.
To see if it's really the router you can make a direct connection to the internt and see if it works then.

Hello,

I have a same problem, even if i disable FW i get "Could not establish connection to Steam servers". I don't use NAT so it's not a port forwarding problem.
Tried with dozens of different startup parameters fround from different Forums, no change: with ip, without, with port, without, -sport, console, no console.. updated with HldsUpdateTool.exe, nothing helps.
Everything else works fine, just VAC does not work.
Any ideas what i could still try?

edit: solved, was a firewall afterall, the one i didn't know about.

Problem solved. Thanks to teuvo. So for everyone who has this problem, make sure that you have ports 26900 and 26901 opened.
