updating source dedicated server

I am hoping someone still reads these forums!! It’s been a month or so since I have started my Source Dedicated Server that's installed on my machine to run Counter-Strike Source. When I start up the map I get a message that says "Your server is out of date. Please update and restart." So I go to steampowered.com and have downloaded the new Windows HLDS Update Tool. When I run the update tool it gives me a message that says "Half-Life Dedicated Server Update Tool Setup has detected that you are currently running the Half-Life Dedicated Server Update Tool on this machine. For the Half-Life Dedicated Server Update Tool to be installed correctly, you must shut down the instance of the Half-Life Dedicated Server Update Tool that is already running. Once Half-Life Dedicated Server Update Tool Setup has completed, you can safely restart the tool."

The problem is I have no clue how to stop the server that's running on my computer. Apparently it's running behind the scenes because I can’t find anywhere to shut it off!!

I hope someone out there knows how to help me! Thanks in advance to all that help me!

It's not a server that's running but the updatetool that's running already, check the processes (cntrl alt delete) and end all the hldsupdatetool.exe instances and try again.

Yeah I have tried control , alt and delete and its not running there. I have also tried going to start, settings, control panel, administrative tools, services and its not running there.

I just ran the HLDS Update Tool from downloading it to my machine. Then I double clicked on it and went through the steps. When it was finished I fired up the server and it still says that I need to do an update!! Below is what I am putting in the run box to start up my server... is it something that I am doing wrong with the start up of the new version of Source?

c:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map cs_assault -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate

I AM SOOO CONFUSED! Thanks for all your guys' help!!

Yo

try this:
Go to -> start -> all programs -> accesoires -> command prompt
Now from that window type this command:

c:\srcds\hldsupdatetool -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir C:\srcds -verify_all

Thats all , if its not working delete these 2 files in srcds folder:
ClientRegistry.blob
InstallRecord.blob

Those files saves old installs.

if steam is slow or dropping connection you can always put "-retry" in that command line
