Public List Problems, Help!
#1
Hey ive just downloaded and installed srcds windows and im having some troubles getting the public list to show my server. This is what i have..

I have dmz enable to the lan box thats hosting it, firewall is allowing and windows firewall is off.

start script...
C:\srcds\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map de_dust2 -maxplayers 12 -autoupdate +ip 192.168.1.12 -port 27015 +mp_dynamicpricing 0

ext ip/port 202.173.151.144:27015 (should be running now)

Whats happening is that my friends can join if they manually connect, but when trying to find in public list, with all filters off they cant find it. I also did a search at game-monitor.com and couldn't find it either.

I read on the valve developer community website that challenges are apart of the master list process. Im getting bad challenges, could this be the prob? Master Server connections are successful tho. screeny of srcds.exe attached

cheers -Ben

Bad and old challenges come from old HL1 queries,
the master list problem is most likely your router, some jsut show up and others don't.
You can try to make a direct connection to the internet and see if it works, if it does your problem lies within the router.

A direct connection means that the router doesn't do anything, so the incoming internet connection goes right into your PC, this will give the external IP to your PC and no port forwarding is needed, this way you can see where problems are. Normally it works without the router, that way you know the router is the problem, if it doesn't it might be a firewall or ISP lock problem.

DMZ simply forwards all the "unknown" traffic to the specified IP addres, this way the router is still between all transactions. The router will still have/own the external IP.

all you need is a modem or an option in the router called bridge mode (most routers DONT have this)

From my router, is this it?

"Bridge QoS

This page allows you to classify the upstream traffic (to the Internet) by assigning the transmission priority for various user data. Bridge QoS function prioritizes the data transmission based on layer 2 bridge packets."

No, that's not it, that function is to give vcertain traffic more/higher priority than other "normal" traffic.
