(Solved, Sort of) hostport not working in server.cfg
#1
I have been running a CS:S server for about 2 years now, and started playing HL2DM so started up that server.

I wanted to keep my CS server running as well and stated in server.cfg for HL2 Hostport 27017.

When I start the server on it's own, It starts on port 27015 and when running side by side with my CS server it runs on 27016. I cannot get it to run on 27017.

When I input hostport into the console, it returns the value I put into server.cfg, however when I view it externally or put in status, it brings back another port.

This seems to happen with everyI include a screenprint of the css server for example
showing hostport and actual port not be alike.

Here is the unusual one:
I am running Mani Admin 1.2 R. When I put the hostport entry into the autoexec.cfg file, this works without a hitch.

Has hostport been disabled within server.cfg or am I missing something blindingly obvious.

Thanks

There have been some changes with those commands the past years, valve added the following commandline parameters:
-ip
-port
-maxplayers

So you dont have to add those to the server.cfg
however hostport should still work in the server.cfg, maybe theres a timing related problem at the moment, as adding it to the autoexec does work.

Awesome cheers Droc. -port in the batch worked a treat. Next one.

I have all 3 different servers running with 3 different colours to identify one from the other if I run more than one.

What I would prefer to do is amend the window title and the standard Batch method does not seem to work (start "CSS Server" /high srcds), although it is recognised as it allows the different color schemes.

You can't change the window title of the SRCDS I think. I've tried a few time but because I think it isn't really a windows console program it won't work. It's a standalone program that looks like console.

Well I never got it to work, maybe someone else has but I doubt it.

Cheers man. That was my exact train of thought on this as well (note the hl2 emblem). Although it is using CMD as a console base, it is a manipulated version.

It is still an instance of CMD though as the color schemes can be remembered if you use the above batch window title. Although the title doesn't change, defining each one in this way, does recognised them as different instances/versions. Included a screenshot for your enjoyment (pretty eh), each time they run with this colour scheme. as long as what's in the speachmarks is different in each instance (start "CSS Server" /high srcds), the scheme is remembered).

Posted some more problems as well, having problems DoD:S and HL2MP. Problems with Bots using my CSS bot.cfg file, and some eroneous missing texture messages on startup.

Believe me I'm not new to this, but haven't set up a server from scratch in over 6 months, so some things may have changed, or I may be missing something greatly obvious.
