Help Getting The SRCDS server working
#1
Can someone help me get my Dedicated Server (Goldeneye: Source)working? I followed all the steps to creating a dedicated server, but it still appeared in LAN. I even added the external IP address, but an error showed up. The error said: "Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port." What should I do? If I add my IP address, and run the server, it will always appear in LAN. Please help, I spent 3 days just figuring out the problem. Please and thank you Wink

The Console (error) said:

Console initialized.
Attempted to create unknown entity type event_queue_saveload_proxy!
Game.dll loaded for "Half-Life 2 Deathmatch"
CDecalEmitterSystem::LoadDecalsFromScript: Script 'scripts/decals_paintball.txt' missing section 'TranslationData'

The server will always show up in LAN since you are on the same network, it will be on the internet for other people that aren't on your network (If you forwarded your ports correct).

Also you have to bind the INternal IP address of the server, else as you noticed you get the socket allocation error.

At portforward.com, do I have to buy the program to forward my ports? I downloaded it for free, but it's asking me to type in the registration number and in order to forward the program such as (Half Life 2 Steam), I need to buy the program. If so, are there any websites I can go into to forward my ports?

Look it's not that hard to port forward, If you know your gateway or your firewall IP Open up some ports and your done, if your not sure i would suggest doing a google search on port forwarding wiki - those wiki's are best mans friend

Ok, my 1st question on the srcds.exe shortcut, what should i type in for the ip? External, my regular ip, or static ip? For example, on the command line, I typed in, -game gesource -tickrate 33 -ip __________ -port 27015 -maxplayers 16 +map ge_facility. I tried all three methods but doesn't seem to work.

My second question is that when I port forward the ports, how does it work? For example, I have to portforward 27000-27015 right. On my list, how do i type it out? Do I have to type it one by one, like 27001 to 27015, 27002 to 27015, 27003 to 27015... and so on to fill the list? How about if I can't fit them all since there's only 10 of the options I could fit? Do I have to just leave it like as is (27000-27015)? If I left it as is, it still wouldn't work. My server would still appear in Lan. Ok let me verify.... On my Linksys page under Applications and Gaming ---> Port Range Forward, this is how I typed it out:

Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enable

HL2Steam1 1200 1200 Both(TCP+UDP) 192.168.1.136 Yes
HL2Steam2 27000 27015 Both 192.168.1.136 Yes
HL2Steam3 27020 27039 Both 192.168.1.136 Yes

Is this correct on how I added them? Also, is the IP Address the 'Static IP?' I'm not really quite sure about that.

You should enter the ipaddress that shows up when you type "ipconfig" in start>run>"cmd"

the ports should be correct, if it doesn't work you'll have to use the DMZ option in your router.

about the LAN appearance, see my first post in this topic.

you can remove -ip and -port and they'll go on the default (internal ip, game-default port)
