Need Help w ( sh: uncompress: command not found )
#1
I had a CSS ZH mod server up & running untill I tried to add and external usb 300gb hd and crashed everthing. So I started all over srom srach with a new install using Linux Suse 10.1. Once again I'm getting stuck here with the (sh: uncompress: command not found) after answeing yes to the agreement. (can't remember how I got the uncompress to work b-4)..
I tried to use the " ln -s /usr/bin/gunzip /usr/bin/uncompress " fix but get the same error as before. I'm new to the Linux OS so I'm not sure just what or how to use gunzip but I know gunzip in installed. Can someone please explain step by step how to have gunzip  handle the uncompress.
Mabe I'm doing something wrong. Here are some ?'s that I have.
I have the hldsupdatetool in :/home/bk/srcds_l /hdlsupdatetool.bin an I know that I have to launch the tool from the /srcds_l folder.
1. Where do I run the /usr/bin/gunzip /usr/bin/uncompress fix from? ( root or in srcds_l
2. In the command /usr/bin/gunzip is /usr/ the same as /bk/bin/gunzip?
Please Help.....I'm a gunzip noob...

If you actually read his post, you'll see that the thread you linked is completely useless for the questions he's asking.

Well, still he should have done a search.

A quick one gives LOTS of results, many with identical titles.

As ROOT
Code:
If Red Hat based - Fedora etc
yum install ncompress

If Debian based
aptitude install ncompress

Search package ncompress if any other distro

The reason why it is not working after you symlinked /usr/bin/gunzip /usr/bin/uncompress is most likely as gunzip is installed in a different directory other than /usr/bin - probably /usr/local/bin/gunzip or so.
You will need to look yourself.

And I don't know how you got /bk/bin/ - I never had a root directory with that name before. Did you use a special install?

Well that worked for me, for some reason I tried it a bit ago from another forum and it never worked, this time it did. Smile think I never used root.
Thanks
