[Solved]Server Not Showing Up On Internet
#1
Here is another of the countless posts about a server being seen as a Lan server but not available to anyone through the internet. My scenario seems to be slightly different than the others I have seen posted because I have two routers set up and I am not sure if that is causing the problem.
The first router is a Motorola VT2442. This router is used for my VOIP service. I have set up port forwards on this router and have disabled the firewall (see screenshot below).
The second router is a Linksys WRT54G. I have also set up the port forwards on this router and disabled its firewall.
Is there anything any of you can see that I am missing? I have tried forwarding the ports on just one of the routers and on both at the same time.
On a side note, I have also installed the Dynu Basic Service. If I enter my url (lupree.dynu.com) it takes me to the Motorola router's login page. Does that mean anything?

Thanks,

-Nick

is the linksys set up as a router or hub (by disabling DHCP and plugging instead of the internet port with the cat5, put it in one of the 4 (or however many) open ethernet ports). If you are using the motorola as your primary I recommend turning the linksys into a hub.

If you plug the server into the motorola router I think it'll work.. of cource you'll have to change the Ip to the new one you get.

Also you should never run 2 routers behind eachother, always use 1 router and from that point switches or hubs.

Thanks guys. I have reconfigured my network so that the second router is acting as a hub.

After doing so, I saw a message in srcds saying:
"Bad challenge from 68.142.242.33:27015"

I did a search on the board and it sounds like that may be a good thing (it at least means my server is showing up)?? Is this true?

Also, should I be able to see the server from my network if I manually enter the external IP address under the favorites tab in Steam? At this point, it tells me server not found.

Thanks again for your help.

I just received confirmation from someone that the server is now showing up on the server list.

Thanks again for your help.

How did you fix it? Every one can easly join the server if i give them the IP, but it's not possible to find on the main server list Sad

is the linksys set up as a router or hub (by disabling DHCP and active instead of the internet anchorage with the cat5, put it in one of the 4 (or about many) accessible ethernet ports). If you are application the motorola as your primary I acclaim axis the linksys into a hub.
