srcds wont launch

ive just installed a dedicated counter strike server, however when i browse to the directory where is it located and double clock on srcds nothing happens, ive tried running it as a console by copying a shortcut to the desktop and adding -console to the target but still nothing. As a last resort i reinstalled it but that didnt help. Any help would be greatly appreciated

1gb ram
windows x64 pro

what happens when you do start -> run -> type "cmd" then hit enter, and do the whole command line there? (after you changed to the srcds folder of course)

-console -game cstrike -maxplayers 10 +map de_dust2

put your command line things that dracona said in the shortcut, and it should run fine with the console

Just one more thing thou..what ports need to be forwarded for the server to be accessible on the internet?
