sv_downloadurl almost working...
#1
Sad
I have a quick question. I recently got sv_downloadurl to at least start to work. I added the customary command to my server.cfg with the quotations so now it correctly links to the files on my web server and attempts to download them. Unfortunately, an error quickly pops up saying that I am missing a map that should have been downloaded from my web server where I am hosting these maps so therefore I can't play the specific map. What can I do?

Thanks

Edit: This is my sv_downloadurl

sv_downloadurl "http://**********.com/redir/"

I am using Godaddy free hosting and this tool to upload http://www.brainless.us/index.php?name=Downloads&req=viewdownload&cid=6

The webspace needs the exact same structure as the server, make sure you have a maps folder with the custom maps in it, also a sounds folder for the sounds.

Also, this space you put it has to be accessible, so not protected in any way.

I have all of the files and I am fairly sure that the space is accessible. When I put in the location of a map in internet explorer, it doesn't let me download it however. It gives me a series of letters.

It should be

sv_downloadurl "http://**********.com/redir/cstrike/

under cstrike, you should have maps, materials, modles, sound, and whatever other folders. you have to have the cstrike folder though... to my knowledge.

I changed the redir directory to cstrike and it still isn't working. I then switched over to a windows server and still no go. Sad It stills says that it is downloading the maps but never actually does so it disconnects me with a "no map" error.

Just a quick reply. It worked! For some reason, Godaddy's default configuration doesn't seem to work well. I decided to go with phpnet.us's free hosting and everything is working well. Really fast downloads (600+ kbps) and 80gb bandwidth per month which seems like enough.

Thanks to whoever mentioned it in the SV_Downloadurl thread.

The web server you were hosting on did not know how to serve the "pages" you were requesting. It needs to be told how to deal with .BZ2, .RES, .BSP files. This is done by registering the mime type; .bz2 = application. In most cases, you need to have the server admin do this for you. I'm not sure if places like godaddy give you control over this.
