Why does the Server I connect to during the day have very high latency, but is fine very late at night? Internet traffic? It used to be fine during the day but slowly has become bad. Now, I can only play at night. What can I do?
Thanks for your time!

Are you the only one on your network? If you have other computers on the internet they could be slowing you down during the day. I would also explain the reason it works better at night.

A lot of internet providers use overbooking, mainly with broadband cable connections.
Around here you can be together with 40 other houses which means during the day the speed is lower and at night the speed picks up to normal again. It's used almost everywhere around the world and can be very annoying if you are having trouble with it.
Hope this isn't the case for you though.

Thanks for replying.
Is there anything I can do to help resolve this connectivity issue?
My system is configured correctly for online gaming.
I've had this problem for about 2 months, but have been playing for more than a year with no problems. Not sure if overbooking is the cause or not. Could be anything else?
I'm actually living in Hong Kong playing on a Taiwan server.
The problem existed before the earthquake.

Well you can run a simple speed test to check out what's going wrong.
When the pings are high run the speedtest and when the pings are normal run a test too.
See what comes out of the test, it might explain alot.

Thanks for both ideas. I've been experimenting with speedtest but still need more time for testing.
The WinMTR program is cool but it doesn't seem to be working. I type the server IP into the host slot then press start, but it does nothing...
Maybe this is the Universe's way of telling me I play Half-Life2 too much? I hope not...
Thanks again for your time!
