very low FPS
#1
I have an almost brand new server (2 x 3.0 GHz P4). We are running only 1 instance of srcds (max 20 players) + hlstatsx + ventrilo.

Looking in the task manager the server very seldom exceeds 15% CPU load. Network load < 1,5% when running at max (the server is sitting on a 100+100 Mbit line).

I have fpsbooster + fps_max 600 set on the server.

We have had lagg problems ever since the server was started and I have spent quite some time trying to get all rate settings correct.

What I just noticed when typing "stats" in the console is that the server is running at 30-100 FPS ??????

I have no clue on how to correct this ??? Help anyone - where do I start looking ??

// Thanks in advance (swedish so excuse any language issues)

Pentium 4 uses HyperThreading technology, turn it off in the BIOS

Thanks a lot Drocona.

Not to question your expertise here but it's quite a bitch for me to get access to the server (it's colocated with an ISP and I have no physical access to the server). The downtime will be several days...

Are you reasonably sure it's related to hyperthreading or is it a wild guess ??  Would turning the HT off get the FPS to +300?

I have spent 5 hours trying to find answers and if it was HT related I assume there would be 100's of posts about this but there are very few (that i find anyway)

btw its a pentium D930.

Again I really appreciate your answer and you help.

Thanks // Mr_president

Might make a fool of my self but thought I should tell you - looking at "stats" in the console seems to present the client FPS not the server FPS. If I look at the "first line" in the console where the srcds is running I can see in green that the server is running at about 500 FPS. No problem with the server FPS. Sorry I took your time....have to go back finding the choke/loss problems in rate/network settings again....

lol no problem can happen to anyone really.

I can probably help you with the lag issues if it's because of server settings
What does the netgraph on the client say? like loss, choke, in and out (last numbers where it says <number>/s)
