Server Hangs on "Executing Dedicated Server Config File"
#1
Sad
I have spent the last week looking for answers to this issue. I finally got my super awesome rack mounted dedicated server up, and am running gun game3 with limited success. My biggest issue being that the server will take about 10 minutes to start up or change maps. the server will fly through all other commands, but when it gets to "Executing Dedicated Server Config File" It just stops. No console input can be used, and nothing else will happen on the machine.

I am running Eventscripts and the Mani admin plugin. I noticed that this happens with or without the mani admin plugin.

HELP PLEASE!!

disable all plugins, make sure the server works correctly before you add custom stuff.

If it still hangs, make sure there is no loop inside the config.
like inside server.cfg:
exec mani_server.cfg

and like in mani_server.cfg:
exec server.cfg

It wont work

Installing a fresh copy, and a updated version of EventScripts seems to have solved the issue.
Thanks much Drocona.

I have another question, I have looked through these forums; most of the people here are using offsite hosting, so I haven't been able to find a post that answers my question.

I am using this server to host a game for a very large office. the server is physically located in the building. Our building operates on internal (192.168.x.x) addresses, with varying subnets depending on branch numbers. Our office is a support office, and we have enough users to warrant 2 subnets for our building (192.168.99.x and 192.168.199.x). The server farm we have is located on the 99 subnet, and workstations are on 199. All of the traffic coming into the dedicated server comes from inside, since the firewall is restrictive enough to bring external ping's into the 800 range.

Anyway, I have been able to connect to the server using the developer console command (connect 192.168.99.90:27015) since the inception of the server. everyone else can find it by using the favorites tab in steam and typing in the address. Not my machine though. So, my questions are:

1) can you make the dedicated server broadcast games on other subnets?

and
2) ever since the game was reinstalled clean, I cannot connect to it at all from the counter strike client, any ideas?

thank you in advance

*edit*
The server hanging on "Executing dedicated server config file" has to do with the -autoupdate command being put in the command line. The server would not fully come up before, and that's why I couldn't connect to it. I put the -autoupdate command when starting, and it hangs on executing server config again. but, if I wait for about fifteen minutes, it will come up and be fully operational. but I am back where I started. I have now stripped all addons, and removed the custom server.cfg file. And now, even without that command, the server will hang.

The server should broadcast on the whole network, not just 1 subnet.
I was at a 2.2k man LAN party, it had loads of subnets, it worked fine.

Is the server reachable at all? What is the server status?
Also, if you're running windows, -autoupdate doesnt work, it never has.

I will start to install a fresh copy tonight and try to run it tomorrow. apparently the -autoupdate command has done something to the install permanently.

This is a picture of a fresh install of SRCDS, nothing running otherwise. This server was made for this purpose, it has a fresh copy of windows XP and nothing else running on it. The console shows like there is a game running, but there is no way I can connect to it. I can ping the server from where I am, as well as remotely control it with UltraVNC.

So, I changed the map command, and the server went straight into "executing dedicated server config file" and hung there for 14 minutes. This is a clean install, no mods added

did you make a server.cfg?
if so what happens if you rename it so it won't load?

ok, i found it, set mp_dynamicpricing 0 in the autoexec.cfg thats the problem it communicates on other ports then the default ones and that makes the server freeze in the startup.

lol, sounds very strange.

Use: "+mp_dynamicpricing 0" in your startline.

well i dont see it strange, either its overloaded that i strongly dont think it is.
second is that its another port that ppl havent opened.
third we have all ports blocked to our machines beside some portranges for the src and hl servers.
