ok good
btw: grandslamjmh
Please don't tell people wrong stuff, GUI is BAD!
Also removing shorcuts doesn't make any sense, you NEED a shorcut to start up srcds, wether it be GUI or console.
What I'm saying is, stick with console, it has ALOT advantages over all other versions. GUI or Steam version should never be recommended to anyone really.

Hwy a noob that read this thread and when i click on srcds.exe or access it thorough the run console nothing happens???
I have looked at my processes in task manager and mu cpu usage goes up to 40% for a second then back to idle at 5%????? any help
(p.s. saw what you said about the gui but i just want to create one test server then use the console (and that doesn't "run" either))

CLicking the SRCDS .exe directly does not work, you have to make a shortcut or batch file with a commandline in it to make it run. There are alot of options you can set. Most of them in the serverwiki pages or just search for commandline on these forums

simply add 1 or more commands behind the shortcut target:
-game cstrike
for example
Note that GUI is not recommended, it's more laggy and uses more resources, which results in less smoother gameplay.

When the server is running you get the GUI again, with tabs above. you can click on the "Console" tab to see whats going on ingame (like chat) or you can click on the others like for example bandwidth
