ive had this problem for a while now and i cant figurure out whats wrong with it. i have reinstalled server 2003 in hope to stop it, i know its not the network cause my partners run very good servers from the same swich in the rack.
basicly some random point in the game everyone will get 500 pings, sometimes lag out. and when they reload the map it will be fine.
specs
server 2003
intel dualcore 3.3ghz
2GB ram 4x512
100mbit connectivity
160GB SATA2 16MB hdd
Abit mobo.
server outputs a very stable 512fps with srcdsboost and ZBlock enabled.
i have attached a picture

You say others Run servers on the same connection, maybe they could be taking your Bandwith with there servers

i can pull down a full 10MB/s at any time. and its only on team change and things like that.
we have 3 other servers and my partner has 2 servers in that rack. it has a full amount of 4Gbps with 4 1gb feeds. (i gb per 1/4 rack)
its def not the network i can assure you that.

I do see some choke and high pings so there's definatly something going on either with the connection or the server. Something is going over the max.

i dont see what, it is the only server on the box. and it has 2x 3.3Ghz cores.
More then enough ram for 1 server. i dont see what can be going over the max. this was happened when i was the only person on the swich too. literally. i think i might have to close the doors on css.

why don't you post a tasklist from the server? it will show all the running processes, maybe it will show something out of the ordinary.

COuld be a driver issue with the NIC, or a bad network interface, is the NIC on board? or in a PCI slot? and how much CPU is being used?

its onboard. and avrg cpu is 3% max is 20% it could possibly be the network card. when people change teams i gues it could cause the cpu to hit 100% and the onboard network lags?

Its possible, but it could also be defective or bad drivers. on board anything is bad since it doens't have its own I/O processor, so it uses the CPU

Ok, just wondering, i checked one of my configs i use when matching, and the maxupdaterate was set to 120!? could this have been the issue?
i will kick myself if it is.

no. maxupdaterate is limited by the tickrate, if you use 100 the server uses a max updaterate of 100, if you use 66 tick it will use maxupdate 66
