Question:
how many slots would i be able to run on a dual Opteron 265 box, with 2Gb Ram? (dont worry about network its plenty fast, multiple backbones) i know that SRCDS is not CPU intensive, how Ram intensive is it? how many more slots would i be able to host if i put 4, or 8 gigs of ram in it? (number for 2Gb, 4Gb, and 8Gb please)

srcds is cpu intensive...
around 120 slots full at max (with low rates).
2 or 4 gb will do just fine (2 GB will do fine if you autorestart all servers once a day).

Just to give you a little example, I have a Pentium4 2.8Ghz here, when I run 20 player 100tick on it it uses 50% CPU.
More gigs doesnt "boost" the server, it just that the SRCDS will use more and more RAM when it stays on. with 2 gigs you will have to restart the servers running once a day to clean the RAM and start over again, with 4 gigs you won't have to do this.

I'm using most of the windows tweaks mentioned on laggfree.com and some other stuff like running low resolution etc. optimised for performance, not for the looks
