What kind of luxury home makes sense in Dubai?
#1
I'm seriously thinking about moving my business to Dubai. Taxes in the US are eating into the numbers more than I'd like, and at this point the profit I'm keeping doesn't feel worth all the work that goes into it. If I make the move, I also want to buy a really nice place there with a great view, not just rent for a year and figure it out later. I'm open to apartments, villas, or something more upscale, but I haven't decided what makes the most sense. Where would you look, and what type of property would you consider?

Man, moving the company and your whole life at the same time is already enough to keep you busy for months. The last thing I'd do is pick a home in some random part of Dubai and then discover that every meeting means an hour in the car. Once you know where most of your business days will happen, start looking around that side of the city. If you're going to be around DIFC a lot, Downtown is an obvious area to explore, while work closer to the coast gives you a good reason to check Dubai Marina or Palm Jumeirah. Bayut is useful once you've narrowed the map down and want to see what kind of luxury homes are actually available there.

The first few months over there are probably going to be packed with office stuff, paperwork, meetings and getting used to a new city. So when you finally get home at night, having a place you genuinely enjoy coming back to is a pretty nice bonus. Something high up with a large terrace could fit that idea nicely. You can look at penthouses for sale in Dubai here: https://atvir.com/uae/residential-complexes/penthouses . Check a few different buildings and see which layouts and locations appeal to you. Then you can narrow the list down before arranging any viewings.
