cannot connect to my server

hey people , i followed the tutorial on setting up a dedicated server for windows on seperate machine i have , netwroked (NOT Wireless) to my main computer. if i run my server on the spare pc it runs fine and also i have no error messages and the server tells me it has "connected sucessfully to the steam servers", so when i go back to my main computer and run counter strike source, i can join the lan game perfectly but its not on the internet, i read on the forums about frowarding ports but everyone seems to have wireless routers this isnt my case, i live in the UK and i have Telewest Broadband its a 2MB connection and there is a thick white cable that comes from the wall (not a phone line) that connects to a modem (Motorolla SURFboard USB Modem model no SB5101E), the modem is direct to my Main PC with a usb cable, then the server pc is networked to it with a hub, and internet connection sharing. so do you people have any ideason how i can get my server on the net, for other people to join, i have a friend who has tried numerous IP's i have managedto find from my PC's but none of them work, thanks for any help

ok this is very simple, just put the server machine in front instead of your main computer, this has many advantages and your SRCDS will be on the net when you start it up.

Thanks for the help, but is there any way i can have it running the server online from the machine its allready on?

you can just switch the machine thats running the server with your main computer, so the USB modem goes into the machine with the server and has connection sharing, with your main pc hooked behind it.

So basically you just switch the total machines.

With your current setup, I never succeeded running a server that way.
