Where can I find rock shows in San Diego?
#1
My girlfriend has been talking about wanting to go out for some live music, and she’s really into metal and heavier rock. I thought I’d surprise her with tickets for this weekend or sometime in the next few days, but I haven’t been to a concert in forever. I don’t follow local venues, I have no clue which bands are touring right now, and regular event searches keep mixing in comedy shows and club nights. Where do you guys check upcoming rock and metal concerts in San Diego?

Honestly, getting back into concerts after a long break is a good problem to have. The first show will probably remind you why you used to go out in the first place, even if your ears complain the next morning. House of Blues gets plenty of touring rock and metal acts, while Brick by Brick leans harder into metal and smaller bills. SOMA is another place to check when a heavier tour needs a larger room. Their calendars should give you a few names to run by your girlfriend.

Her idea of heavy could be anything from classic hard rock to death metal. One random band logo won’t tell you whether she’ll enjoy standing through the whole set. Ask what she’s been listening to lately, then use that as the starting point. You can see the schedule of rock concerts in San Diego has coming up here: https://myrockshows.com/location/223-san-diego-ca/ . The date and genre filters make it easy to narrow the list to the next few days. Once you find two bands that match her taste, let the lineup be the surprise.
