How to Accurately Use a Paint Calculator for Square Feet?
#1
Hi everyone,

I’m planning to repaint my living room and want to make sure I buy the right amount of paint. I came across several online paint calculators that ask for square footage, but I’m a bit confused about how to measure correctly.

Should I include windows and doors? And what about multiple coats? Do I multiply the square footage by the number of coats? Also, how accurate are these calculators in real-world scenarios?

Any tips, formulas, or personal experiences on calculating square feet for painting would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! To measure for a paint calculator, multiply the height by the width of each wall and add them together to get the total square footage. You can subtract windows and doors for more accuracy, but it’s optional. When planning your project in the USA, using a paint calculator square feet in USA can help estimate how much paint you need based on standard coverage. For multiple coats, multiply the total square footage by the number of coats. Most online calculators are fairly accurate, but it’s a good idea to round up slightly to cover texture, absorbent surfaces, or touch-ups. Buying about 10% extra paint is usually wise to avoid running short.
