#1
Hi I need help getting the lag down on my server.

the machine I am running on is a dual 3.06ghz machine with 2 gigabytes of ram.

the connection is 5 mbps

I was wondering what are good rates for a 66 tickrate?
please help me fix this problem.

Check to make sure nothing else is using alot of CPU. In ssh type "top" and it will show the running processes and the cpu/memory usage.

Is this a 5 Mbps symetrical connection or a home connection with 5 Mbps of download speed?

Try testing the connection's upload speed; that's what really matters when hosting anything. If it's a cable/DSL buisness connection, I doubt it has more than 1 Mbps of upload speed.

Sounds like it can't maintain 5mbps up and down at the same time, if you're upload is in use, you're going to have low usage of download, im going to assume this is business cable? from cox perhaps?

Hmm, well I have cox's home, 15mbps down and 2mbps up, if im using my full 2mbps then my download suffers.
