Not appearing on the internet
#1
Hi,

I'm not having any luck getting a dedicated server running.

I've tried everything I can think of, but must be missing something.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

System: Windows 2000 (up to date as of now)
Network: Belkin wireless router connected to NTL
Server: Source Dedicated Server (installed via the Tools tab in Steam)

I have done the following:
1. Forwarded ports:
- UDP 1200, 27000->27015, 27016 and 27020
- TCP 27020->27050, 27015 and 27016
2. I have tried with VAC on and off
3. I have entered my IP address into game-monitor.com (with and without port number - tried 27015 and 27016).
4. My software firewall (zonealarm) has been shut down.
5. I have set an RCON password
6. I have tried with and without user password
7. I have NOT done any other server configuration. I don't know where to begin.

The console says that Connection to steam was succesful and I usually get at least one message to confirm that VAC is enabled or disabled (as appropriate). However, I do get the occasional bad challenge message.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

PS. Is there a manual for this software?

how are you trying to connect to the server? and are you trying to use your WAN ip or LAN ip?

Good point.

Just to clarrify: The server is running on the same machine that I play the game on. I can connect to it using the LAN server list. However, my server is not appearing on the internet for others to connect to.

I enter my external ip address 81.106.122.149 (host civ.yourmums.com - I ran a Civ IV server just fine) when checking on game-monitor.com.

Regards,

Andy

PS. My PC is currently shut down so you'll only get as far as my router if you try that IP address now.

As mentioned on here before, game-monitor.com takes a bit before it'll appear in the database, my suggestion is to check with gametiger.com

For you i don't think it'll appear on the net list. only your LAN.
