Why panerai?

I’m looking to purchase my first panerai. I’m curious to get feedback on this question. Why panerai? It’s not cosc rated. For the price point other watches offer better timekeeping The movement isn’t unique and in part shared amongst other brands. My motivation is more aesthetics and history.

Actually, the in-house movements are unique with their 3+ day power reserves and double barrel systems. One buys a Panerai because they love the unique case shape. I've recently rekindled my interest in Panerai and may be on the market for one.
