Running SRCDS on LAN, slow to join
#1
Other than setting sv_lan 1 is there anything else I need to do to run SRCDS on a LAN? It takes for ever to get into the server, 2 mins. Neither the server or the client have internet connections. The same server and client join up in 10 seconds when i run it over the internet.

Also this is outside of the scope of this fourm but maybe one of you will know. Is there a way to start Steam in offline mode with out having to wait for it to time out? That take a long time also.

They are both unplugged from the internet. We don't even have an internet connection at the site.

Had this same problem on a recent lan where we provided LAN servers. No internet = slow login. Didn't find any solution myself.

You can use a local steam content server, but you have to pay license costs for that >> contact VALVe.

that is not good. This stuff takes WAY to long to load up. Seems like it would just fly getting in on LAN.
