Tickrate Still 66??
#1
I read a bunch of the forums here on tickrate. It sounds like from reading them that if you go to 33 tickrate and don't have any choke or latency problems you're probably OK with 33 and won't have as many lag issues overall with your server.

To that end I changed the following in my server config:

sv_minrate 4000
sv_maxrate 9999
sv_minupdaterate 10
sv_maxupdaterate 33

I was of the opinion from the reading I did here that sv_maxupdaterate was the tickrate. The ISP guys who posted said to keep sv_minupdaterate to 10, not to set them equal.

When I made the changes above, Mani still tells me that tickrate = 66?? Can someone help me with why it is this way?

ye u still have to add -tickrate 33 to ure cmd line to change tickrate and also i wouldn't put maxupdaterate to 33 ide keep it at 60 it won't do any harm at 60.

not per definition, but when you're on a home connection probably yes.
It mostly depends on the settings on your rates.

I can manage to run a flawless 100 tick server and run a choking 33 tick serverToungue

Thanks guys. I am running the server from a home box w/768K up, so the tickrate of 33 might help.

One more question about the tickrate - can any number be selected? I've seen people use 33, 66 and 100, but can the number be 40, 50, etc..??

Thanks Exxaxion.

You're right, I could have tried it on my own first, but I wanted to ask anyway because there may be some tips or things that more experienced people recommend.
