Enforcing Client Commands
#1
Does anyone know a command or a mod that changes clients cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate

to

cl_updaterate 70
cl_cmdrate 80

and what is the best running for cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate

is it like 100 and 101 i'm not very sure but on most forums or tutriols they say the updaterate should be 1 more then the tickrate or something like that.

thanks,
Bender

changing client rates is bad! They aren't client rates for nothing you know.

this is the copy of my console what happen when i joined a ladder server. it was EGN.

: : Rate Enforcement : : cl_cmdrate was 100 : Lowered to 80
: : Rate Enforcement : : cl_updaterate was 101 : Lowered to 70

they also had message in GUI mode that came up when i join the server saying Welcome to EGN ... is this matti event scripts or another MOD?

whats a ladder server? VALVe does not have a global ranking of players and clans.

I think that one would be something like AceRates, seen that multiple times now

I'm strongly opposed to this "forced rate changing".
I use my own rate settings and I made my config.cfg read-only because of some "bad" servers that change my rates without my permission. You think you are helping players by changing their rates without their permission, but sometimes people who do know what they are doing with the rates can get angry when the server changes their rates without even notifying them.

yeah but people cheat and use cl_cmdrate 10 whiches give them a low ping and a advangtage over people. e.g. say a person sees them standing their infact their already gone, maybe 2 steps a ahead or even more.

Well that doesnt really matter in the source engine, it's not cheating at all actually.
Even better, if you're on 56k you will have to set it close to 10 cmdrate, else it will lag for them.

Also trust me, you don't have ANY advantages other than not being kicked for a high ping when you use 10 cmdrate. You shock a bit yourself being unable to aim well while the other players can just shoot you. The difference for the other players is soooo small you can discard it.
Even worse, it doesnt matter in the source engine if your 1 meter to the right or to the left instead of in the middle. Source engine uses APROXIMATES so one time you might shoot someones head, it doesnt hit cause the server thinks "Hmm I think that is a miss". While the other time you aim 3cm besides someones head and the server thinks "I guess that will be a hit" BOOM HEADSHOT! You didn't even aim for it!!

If it were CS 1.6 I would get pissed about ppl using low rates, that game is so precise, but source... it's made for the noobs to kill the pro's, everyone has equal chances. Spray or aim, doesnt matter. I once had to shoot an AFK'er in the head 6 times with a scout before it finally died!(with a ping around 15) You figure.

I enforce minimum/maximum rates with beetlesmod (standard feature).

Probably unlike you guys here in Europe we got very fast and low ping adsl connections. I myself have a 5-10 ping to my own servers at all time.
