Dont get windows media center. There is a few more running processes in the background compared to windows xp. I use to have media center. Dumped it after like 2 weeks. Besides if you dont have all the right hardware you cant install it.

Trust me, get Windows XP Prof. You can tweak it to run so fast. I have a copy of Prof that I personally tweaked, hacked, and did everything else possible to make it run faster. And boy is it. I put it on a pc with windows 98 and it ran very smooth for bein a 533 mhz pentium with only 128 mb of ram. It's recommended to get XP and I am willing to bet a few other people will say the same thing. Dro already did.

Use w2k3 webedition. It's illegal to host on OEM or any other windows license. Only SPLA (service pack level agreement) licences are allowed for hosting.

w2k3 webedtion costs around 12,5 per cpu a month. w2k3 standard (needed for webservers) around 25 per cpu a month.

XP isn't ment to use for a server, w2k3 server edition is.

XP pro has all the networking stuff built in. Something Home doesnt have. I tested my connections a while back when I had slower internet, I was at 1300 connections per minute

Get Linux Big Grin
Well, if you're decided on windows..get one of the server versions or xp pro. I have xp pro 64 edition on my server. I miss linux, except for the configuration problems i had, lol.

Well, no os os the best for gaming. Even Windows needs some work. But, more games are suported on Windows than any other os. So: Windows.
