Visual Basic (c++)
And you also have to download the source SDK.

You have to download the sourceSDK then create a mod. Then go to the modfolder. from there go to utils>public>serverplugin_sample (I believe, not sure about the public, cant check I just did a full PC format and upgrade). There are several files in there which can be opened in a txt editor (.cpp & .h files), your plugin code goes in serverplugin_empty.cpp (or something like that name).

I don't know how to do it on Linux, however on windows you need Visual Studio 2003 to compile it real easy. I've heard it's possible with express 2005 but it's a pain in the ass. in 2003 it's as simple as opening the .vcproj file then go to Build>serverplugin_empty and your done Wink

Stupid thing is that there are NO tutorials on this and NO support at all for learning to write it. I got quite far and getting the hang of it (by learning myself), if you ahve any other questions just ask and I will try to asnwer.

Although there is alot of information here.
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_Docs
That page covers things like making your own mods, decompiling maps, pretty much anything that has to do with the SDK.

except the one thing that you need lol

writing plugins.... the example (serverplugin_empty.cpp) is the ONLY thing written on serverplugins, whats in there doesnt help you at all lol. Since it's something totally different than "modding" and not much people get into it, even knowing about it existing anyway.

this is the only page about server plugins:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Server_Plugins

it doesnt help you at all..

I swear I was on that site one day and found a tutorial on how to write a basic plugin. Oh yeah it was changing weapons around. I was messin with it and turned Hl2 into a multiplayer game with CSS weapons in the mix. But it very well could have been a diff site. Googling pwns. So try that.
