Are there any restrictions on the ports SRCDS uses.
I have gotten 27010 and 27015(default) to work.
Could I use 27020 27025 27030 27035 etc

its +hostport
thats what most people forget i think? port has never been a command in Source engine games
I'm not sure if theres a difference here between linux or windows tho, on wikipages it says -port, however this does not work on windows, on windows it's +hostport.
Is it different on Linux?

Well when i used -port it was on my windows installation. Best advice would be to try both and see what happens. But ya linux and SRCDS PWNS. You will notice the difference instantly when you join your server. Best switch i ever made.

Well soon I will see how it all works out on the new server, it's a rental with 2GHz AMD CPU, 2GB memory and 2TB bandwidth on SuSe 9.2/9.3 or Debian 3.1 (can choose).
ok back ontopic:
When I first used my SRCDS I followed the wiki pages with the commandline, first thing was an unknown port commnand error showing up

no it's just an error in the console, it tells you that the port command doesnt exist
like when you put +bla or -bla or soem nonsense command, it gives the error: unknow command : bla
