RecurDyn 2024 What's New
Solver Enhancements
Force & Geo Contact
Buoyancy Force
ㆍ A newly added force that can calculate buoyancy
ㆍApplicable to both rigid and flexible bodies by defining the fluid surface and flow velocity
ㆍPossible to simulate a model with Buoyancy applied without performing co-simulation with CFD
Gap Force
ㆍ A newly developed force that is applied between bodies to maintain a user-specified gap
ㆍ Possible to simulate a model in which parts are floating by aerodynamic or magnetic force
ㆍ Linear guides can be modeled to prevent contact between parts using air or magnetic bearings.
Geo Contact Enhancements
ㆍ The performance of contact algorithms has been improved through SMP (Shared Memory Parallel) support for the following contact elements.
(Geo Sphere, Geo Cylinder, Geo Curve to Surface, Geo Curve (3D), Geo Curve (2D), Geo Circle (2D))
ㆍ Geo Curve 3D and Geo Sphere to Curve 3D are new contacts optimized for Curves 3D contact modeling.
ㆍ More accurate and faster contact analysis can be achieved through contact specific to 3D mechanical parts with curved or circular shapes, such as cables or bearings.
Static Solver and FFlex Static
Enhancements
ㆍ The reliability and accuracy of the N-R Static Solver, significantly enhanced in RecurDyn 2023, have been further improved in RecurDyn 2024.
ㆍ Calculates static equilibrium state more reliably and accurately.
ㆍ Supports static analysis of nonlinear MFBD models including rigid and RFlex bodies as well as FFlex bodies.
Benefits
ㆍ By calculating the initial equilibrium state of a model such as vehicle or excavator in advance, the simulation speed and accuracy can be improved.
ㆍ Total simulation time can be reduced by tuning a model through static analysis before dynamic analysis.
ㆍ When the effect of inertia is small, the behavior of the model can be quickly observed using quasi-static analysis.
ㆍ It is possible to investigate the system's range of motion or the interference between bodies through static analysis.
FFlex Static
ㆍ Structural analysis of flexible bodies can confirm deformation and stress in a static state.
ㆍ Supports static analysis of an MFBD model considering not only self contact of FFlex body but also contact with other bodies.
ㆍ When a deformed shape of a flexible body is required, it can be obtained by using static analysis and extracting the results.
MFBD Enhancements
Thermal Contact
ㆍ Thermal Contact calculates the heat transfer between two flexible bodies by thermal conduction.
ㆍ Thermal Contact is not only defined through Patch Sets but can also be between Patch Sets within the same flexible body.
ㆍ Possible to consider thermal conduction, thermal expansion, and thermal stress of a flexible body through heat transfer between different parts
ㆍ In cases where thermal energy is generated in a rotor and transferred to a stator, such as in an electric motor, it can be modeled using the Thermal Contact feature, and the results can be confirmed.
Mesher Enhancements for Geometry Relation
ㆍ The Surface Mesh function has been added to create Shell Elements for surfaces with 4 Sides or 4-Sided More surfaces.
ㆍㆍWhen the shape information of the underlying surface changes, the Shell Element is updated accordingly (Outline Surface, Spline Surface,
Extrude Surface, Arc Revolution, and Fill Curve are supported).
ㆍAutomatic Solid Element update when modifying the base shape, such as a Curve when utilizing Surface Mesh or Manual Mesh
Shell Pre-Stress
ㆍ Support for the creation of Pre-Stressed Shell elements
ㆍ Pre-Stress can be applied to complex-shaped meshes without using Extract
Toolkit Enhancements
Linked Assembly (New Feature)
ㆍ Modeling automation and analysis toolkit that enables the creation of assemblies such as Chains, Caterpillars, Rubber Tracks, Belts, and Cable Chains using general CAD geometry
ㆍ Possible to create assembly systems with various and detailed geometries, and perform more realistic dynamic analysis
ㆍ Possible to design and verify various assembly systems and define more precise contact surfaces
ㆍ MFBD (Multi Flexible Body Dynamics) analysis can be performed by converting rigid assembly bodies, such as Links or Passing Bodies into flexible bodies.
DriveTrain Enhancements
ㆍ Version upgrade of built-in KISSsoft
ㆍ Ability to create a Double Rack & Pinion
ㆍ Involute Contact for Rack & Pinion - Contact calculations are dozens of times faster than contact analysis with KISSsoft contact.
ㆍ GearForce Inactive - More efficient simulation by considering only the contact of necessary gear pairs
ㆍ Possible to view the 6x6 Stiffness Matrix of the bearing for each time frame as a CSV file or Scope after the simulation is complete
ㆍ CAD Shape of KISSsoft's Bevel Gear & Worm Gear - Possible to create CAD shapes of Bevel gears (Z70) and Worm gears (Z80)
RecurDynis Integrated Multi-Discipline (IMD) Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software. Its primary purpose is Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics (MFBD), which is the prediction of the motion of mechanisms and devices composed of solid bodies, in which the bodies can be modeled as either rigid or flexible bodies. RecurDyn contains many components, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Optimization Design, Automatic Control, Fatigue Analysis, as well as rigid Multibody Dynamics. RecurDyn has superior calculation efficiency because it is based on a recursive formulation. Therefore, RecurDyn gives the best performance in large-scale multibody problems (systems with a large number of bodies), including mechanical systems in which complex contact between bodies is very significant. RecurDyn also features a natural, Windows-based User Interface which is intuitive and easy to use, as well as a custom application development environment which enables users to automate complicated and/or tedious tasks.
MFBD (Multi Flexible Body Dynamics)
FunctionBay, Inc.is a professional developer of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) simulation software for the simulation of both flexible and rigid body dynamics. Our software solutions, which include the internationally-recognized RecurDyn, integrate many disciplines into a single seamless package. The core of these solutions is Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics (MFBD), which tightly integrates multibody dynamics analysis with non-linear finite element analysis.
