in fact my clan has two game roots, one mainly for srcds and one mainly for hlds. the hlds root is running ubuntu after I reinstalled it some time ago, and the srcds root is still running gentoo, because I am too lazy reinstalling it. gentoo is in the long run not the best choice for a server root - takes too much effort to keep it up-to-date...

and it's currently 4 srcds (2 css public, 1 tf2 public and 1 css war) and 4 hlds (1 war and 3 public cs 1.6), IIRC :-) both cpu are a Q9550... servers are located in Germany

E3-1270 8GB ram. The basics running on windows server 2008 R2. Smile

Also running 0.5ms timers. It allows the instances to process more data at a given time, but also if you don't have a under-loaded box this might actually cause the fps to flapp to much. Also going from 1.0 to 0.5 uses 10-15% more cpu on a 11 slot 1000FPS server.

^ still wondering why people are running ridic fps rates when the new engine and 100fps fits fine. Guarantee the 1000fps dosent boost performance like it did in the old engine.

I'm using ubuntu server running on a virtual machine on another ubuntu server, until i can afford a separate machine to transfer it to. Haven't really tested it on the internet but it seems to work on the lan so far. Also thinking about perhaps changing the os to a more lightweight distro but ubuntu is really nice to work with Smile
