[PING ISSUE ON CS:SOURCE]

I am pinging my dedicated server via ping -t 217.172.132.205 from my home broadband connection via a cmd prompt. The ping response time in ms is "43ms" but in game my ping in ms is "55-60" ?

Also i run CS1.6 and my ping in game is the same as the ping via cmd prompt.

What can i change to improve the performance on the ping?

Your ingame latency is 55 - 60ms, but your ping is 43ms. It's not the same Wink

Ok so why is my latency in game so high?? CS1.6 i get 43ms and Source i get 60ms there both on the same machine??

Are you playing locally with a ping of 43ms?

Well considering your jitter and various other factors the latency ingame may be different from other applications and/or meassurements.

You cannot configurate your server for a better ping and really there is nothing you can do if it isn't a local server.

What you could try would be to increase the sv_maxrate variable. (to about 50000)

Just change your configuration file - server.cfg. Smile

As I've said 5 times now, you cannot set it up like that. The Source engine uses a newer network handler(engine w/e). Also are there people on the servers when toke those data? Well worth a try.. try putting -pingbooster 3 in your start parms for your SRCDS.

You are asking if you can improve your ping on your SRCDS, because your HLDS server has a lower ping than the SRCDS has, right? And they are on the same box.

Yes they are on the same box.

Yes they are on the same box.

And I'm trying to tell you that it's not likely to improve the ping on SRCDS, as it uses a different technology.

Old thread I know, but ping != latency.

And latency varies between games as it measures the time it takes for your GAME packets to be processed and delivered. Ping simply measures the latency of an ICMP packet.

Typically gold source has a lower latency than source or orangebox because it is less CPU and Memory intensive.
