You have to use the ORANGE BOX version of MM/SM.

I thought they were merged? anyway, I tried 1.8.1 which has been released "to work with the latest L4D2, TF, and DoD:Source updates." so that should work with OB games, right? well, it doesn't... at least not for me. did you try it?

I've been told as long as you tweaked one line it should work... Check the SM forums...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebqdTFj9T2o at ~5:50 the guy says CS:S will be for Mac next week(knowing valve time it will be next month).. This means new engine. The question would be: Does the new hl2 engine which is also used in TF:2 have multi-core server-side support? I don't have any experience or knowledge about it.

No SRCDS supports multi-core.

Well that's quite sad :/....
Anyways, confirmation:
"We're taking a break for E3 this week. Enjoy the new Portal 2 trailer and get ready for Counter-Strike: Source to come to the Mac next week."
Update in steam page. Smile

but why don't they say that this will mean the cs:s beta to become the release?

either the beta isnt being released or its a surprize, how often do you they announce when an update is going to be released?

The next update will remove -tickrate and default it to 66.

Tickrate has a host of side effects on network code, weapon firing speeds, force impulses (like throwing weapons), and physics, and this will help us create a more consistent experience for Counter-Strike.

<edited to not give the wrong impression with the first statement>

Holy MOLY!

I feel this is wrong, why would the remove tickrate? there is no benefit in removing the ability to change it to 100 and Dont you change tf2 tickrate with that command?

well probably they are addressing several issues like doors opening too slow and other glitches (recoil...) in the game play. probably it's difficult to get everything under control so that all tickrates will show the same game play. the question one could raise is why they fixed it at 66 and not at 100. nowadays its no longer unrealistic to have constant 100 client fps for all players, so tick 100 could actually make a difference...
