Hi,
1)
For hosting with Windows 2003/2008, I have seen many suggestions about adding Application Server Role for better performance, but from reading the description at Microsoft TechNet, I don't see how it would benefit a Source Dedicated Server. Can anyone confirm on this?
(Microsoft TechNet - Application Server Role)
2)
Also, I used to turn off QoS, as many suggestions state this feature is useless, but lately I have came across many discussion threads about VoIP, web hosting, database hosting, and people do suggest using QoS. Can anyone confirm whether or not QoS is useful for SRCDS?
Some articles that I came across regarding QoS:
(Netgear - How QoS Improves Performance)
(Microsoft - Windows XP Quality of Service (QoS) enhancements and behavior)
(Why We Don't Need QoS)
(lifehacker.com - Debunking Common Windows Performance Tweaking Myths)
Thanks.
