appdatacache.cpp (311) : Assertion Failed: !"Implement me"
#1
No matter what I do to my server, it will end with the line:

Code:
appdatacache.cpp (311) : Assertion Failed: !"Implement me"
and the console will become unresponsive. I'm out of ideas, I don't know what to do. I tried to add a new client to Mani via in-game admin menu and the server crashed. That's when this started happening. I tried disabling Mani, but it still ended with that line and my server refuses to start. I'm in deep need of help.

Server OS: Ubuntu 9.04 GUI
Processor: Intel Penitum 4 2.6 Ghz Single Core
Ram: 1GB I think.
Game: Counter-Strike Source
Start Up Command: ./srcds_run -console -game cstrike -maxplayers 45 +map zm_lila_panic -port 27018 -autoupdate
Admin Mods: MetaMod, SourceMod, Mani, and SourceOP.

Asserts can be ignored. They are just warnings.

Same thing here. Started happening after the cs:s update by valve today:

Console initialized.
Game.dll loaded for "Counter-Strike: Source"
maxplayers set to 12
Network: IP (IP), mode MP, dedicated Yes, ports 27015 SV / 27005 CL
Executing dedicated server config file
Incorrect price blob version! Update your server!
ERROR: mp_dynamicpricing set to 1 but couldn't download the price list!
Error: Material "sprites/bubble" : proxy "AnimatedTexture" not found!
Section [Scenes]: 0 resources total 0 bytes, 0.00 % of limit (2.10 MB)
appdatacache.cpp (311) : Assertion Failed: !"Implement me"

Server doesn't start and it freezes there

Same problem here with Linux.

No addons. Assertion failed, hangs.

Agreed.

We're seeing this problem here too, beginning today (Feb 1 2010)....

Everything initializes correctly, then my server freezes with:

appdatacache.cpp (311) : Assertion Failed: !"Implement me"

...Doesn't even get as far as contacting Valve's master servers.

Thanks, Valve.. (*sigh*)...

The steam update for CSS messes some servers up. And causes them not to start.

If this happened to you, you can do what I did to fix it.

What I am doing to fix this temporarily is taking the -autoupdate command out of the start script.

And I had to replace a few files to versions before todays(2-1-10) update.

(I got the files from a server that I did not restart and therefore was not contaminated by the update.) Hopefully you have a server that is running you can copy the files from.

These are the files I replaced:

InstallRecord.blob
.steam folder
ClientRegistry.blob
bin Folder
datacache_i486.so
dedicated_amd.so
dedicated_i486.so
dedicated_i686.so
engine_amd.so
engine_i486.so
engine_i686.so
materialsystem_i486.so
scenefilecache_i486.so
soundemittersystem_i486.so
studiorender_i486.so
tier0_s_i486.so
vphysics_i486.so
vstdlib_i486.so

Servers then started right up. Remember to remove -autoupdate from your command line or those files will get updated again and you will have to do it over again.

CS 1.6 and Ld4 don't seem to be affected by the update.

But TF2 was and I had to rebuild my TF2 server. And remove -autoupdate from that as well.

I hope they fix this update soon.

Do you think you can zip those files up and upload them somewhere?

I just checked the file size and they're not that big.

Edit: Nevermind. I found these files in a backup tar. Thanks for the tip though.

And don't forget to take -autoupdate out of you command line that starts you server!

Oh yeah! I forgot about that damned update! After the server crash, I turned it off and ran the command line, and I saw it download new files. Thank you so much, you saved my clan.

yep, this has been fixed with the latest CS:S update ... so if not done yet, simply re-run updatetool (./steam ...).

but can any of you guys please tell me what exactly changed with this update? I mean, what are the benefits in detail of the changes mentioned below for us as admins/server owners?

Quote:- SMX, GCF, and SYS files cannot be downloaded
- Files whose extensions contain whitespace are not allowed to be downloaded
- Filenames that begin with path separators are not allowed to be downloaded

There were some exploits that were allowing clients to manipulate or see certain files.
