remote desktop massivly lags servers
#1
i havent had much luck with srcds and linux, so out of desperation, i tried windows. it works good for the most part, but sometimes when i log on remotely, the servers get massive lag, pings jump to over 500ms for everyone.
fps stays around 512, cpu usage is normal... so its something in the network.

the server has 100 mbits upstream bandwidth, so im not sure what's going on Sad

OS server 2003

Odd, make sure you set your RDP setting to low, that way it uses the least amount of bandwidth possible.

Also because it needs to use power on sending the signal, it can be quite bad if you got multiple srcds running on the same RDP Desktop.

I never notice anymore than 1% CPU usage when RDP'd to a clean dedicated.

Start -> Run
Type mstsc
When the box opens, click on Options.

Click tabs Display and Experience, and set them to lower settings.

This is for Windows 7 / Vista, It may be similar for XP.
