As for the issue, many "1000 FPS" servers run AROUND 1000 rather then at 1000 100% of the time. Also, have you tried setting: +fps_max 1500
I tried the setting +fps_max 1500. No change as expected.

have you guys ever thought that it could be true, that there is no difference between 950 and 1000 fps? I know how to reach exactly 1000 fps, I also know how to reach more than 1000 fps. but this is pure marketing. you don't need this to increase your server's quality, you only need this to impress possible clients with some high number. maybe this is why nobody want's to help here easily. sharing some knowledge that helps normal people (i.e. clan admins etc.) to achieve a high quality is one thing. helping someone to make more money is something else. you don't get this for free...

and yes: it is not possible to reach exactly 1000 fps or beyond with a kernel modification only. it's a limit of the game engine.

The difference of 50 microseconds (0.05 milliseconds!) can nobody possibly notice."

I said exacly the same > its not enought to have ~940 fps (i know there is no diff between 940 and 1000) but i want to fix that > its a kind of perfectionism.

But to get these answer i think your are wrong here....

I give you the information that you need an older kernel to solve this ... all kernel over >2.6.28 does this problem...you cannt really solve it > or i dont know how because noone helped me (same like like).

> perhaps you can reach the 1000 fps with a newer kernel > u need to load a pre lib ... but thats the same problem in this forum ... they wrote a lot of these stuff but noone post "how you can do this?" e.g. 2000FPS cs:s server.... i asked for ... but no help ...

hopefully iam the first who could help you a little bit..... :-)

best reguards....peter

I read your thread too. Thanks for the advice I will try the older kernel.
With the pre "lib".... I asked two people, one wanted 500 euro for it (rofl...), the other had sell it already to other "provider".
I think you will not get any help from these people, because they want money for their "godlike" library.
I will try the older kernel with the same settings I have.
Thanks

Try it without the grsec patch. Isn't the grsec patch just going to slow down the kernel with all the additional security verifications?

@ Behaartes
Are you saying that you're not telling everything in your wiki because of money?

css: are you sure that the grsec patch is build in the kernels? i read you have to patch it > normally you havent it build in.

@ Peter
It's not built in, but in the first post you can see that Forgotten had applied the grsec patch. I think he wants it (he seems to know what he's doing)

PS. I'm afraid to give plus reputation for Forgotten and then being "revenged" by others. His first post is text book example how to first post.

Thank you. I tried it without the grsec patch and yes I want to have grsec in my kernel because of all security tweaks. I have the same problem without grsec.
->problem not affected by grsec
Any other ideas?
I'll try the older kernel, maybe it will help.

which older kernel? normall all the kernel lower than 2.6.28 >> try 2.6.27 or lower > these should work.

Why don't you go to the last grsec supported kernel. I don't think there's too much difference between the minor release numbers.

There's the latest grsec patch for http://www.grsecurity.net/grsecurity-2.1.12-2.6.27.10-200812271347.patch.gz (2.6.27.10). It's probably going to perform as well as the clean 2.6.27.36. I'm surprised if it doesn't. Maybe you'll get even closer to the 1000 fps the older kernel you go Rolleyes

I also boosted some of your reputation because this thread definitely is help for others albeit having lousy start.

Also, it's been the tradition to post the fpsmeter.org screenshot here when you're finished Wink

well, there's a very ugly exploit out there that has been fixed with version 2.6.27.30

i really dont like to use such a riskware xD (actually it's just a local exploit, but i like to play safe Smile )

PS: I'll post an fps-meter screen as soon as possible Smile
//edit: here it is Smile
