[resolved]When people connect it says not dedicated
#1
Hiya, when people connect it says server is not dedicated and sometimes it says server is not responding (tf2 server btw)

I've done all necessary pot forwarding ( i think, i did the fios half life 2 game port thingy)

Help? ( and no, sv_lan is not set to 1....)

I guess you're hosting at home? Probably your OWN connection.

Proably your own connection? (whats that supposed to mean)

Its weird sometimes people can connect and sometimes they can't, but it definitely never showed up on the server list, but i havent checked if it says dedicated for other people.... ( but it DEFINITELY never showed up on the server list)

On another note... how do i add skins to my server so people have to wear them and everyone can see everyone elses skin?

also: my command is the usual stuff + +ip 192.168.1.19 +hostport 27015

the external ip is 173.65.50.195

"Proably your own connection? (whats that supposed to mean)"

Realchamp is guessing that you are hosting the TF2 server from your home connection right?

I'd read this first: http://forums.srcds.com/viewtopic/9982 . Also setting a private LAN ip to the SRCDS is not going to help things Toungue, try removing the +ip, set your NIC to determine the private IP of the server you are hosting it from, then port forward UDP/TCP 27015->27020 to that IP on your router.

Also is worth noting that home connections are terrible for hosting. High pings and bad routing kills them, nether mind the poor upload speeds Big Grin

Hope that helps,

Christy

EDIT: Can you post your entire start up line please?

+ip 192.168.1.19 +hostport 27015 ???

I think you want:
-ip 192.168.1.19 -port 27015

It's basically the same Smile
just that the -port is a startup variable and
+hostport is a CVar

They do exactly the same thing.
