rcon help

I've been searching for hours upon hours for a FAQ for help with rcon on my counter-strike source server, i was hoping to find my answer here from one of you uber-admins. rcon used to work a couple of weeks ago but for some reason it just stopped working. I get this error when i try to type an rcon command after putting in my password

unable to connect to remote server (24.43.207.83:27015)

ive set up the rcon.cfg file correctly

rcon_port 27015
rcon_password mypassword
rcon_address 24.43.207.83

ive tried to put "exec rcon.cfg" without quotes in server.cfg and mani_server.cfg both at the same time and one without the other in both cases

still rcon will not work could anyone please tell me what i am doing wrong, i dont wanna waste another minute searching for an rcon faq that just doesn't exist

All you should need to do is set the rcon_password in your server.cfg

if u use mani as long as your steam id is in adminlist.txt u should be able 2 to access rcon useing the "ma_rcon" command.. and u can also access some rcon commandes useing the ingame admin menu that u can access by typeing "admin" in the ingame console.. i hope that helps

not all commands work with the ma_rcon command, such as rcon stats

but even as a cliant u can view stats by useing "ma_ranks" i think it jus doesn't show the whole list..

thank you guys for helping me out, i took out the exec rcon.cfg from server.cfg, mani_server.cfg and autoexec.cfg

i still cant exec the rcon but i tried the ma_rcon thing and that seems to work pretty well, it really is an inconvenience to have to put the ma_ in front of it, but the commands do work so i can put up with it

rcon stats and mani's stats are two very different things

rcon stats gives you server stats such as cpu usage, frame rate, etc.

ma_ranks is the mani command 2 view stats.. im not sure but i think what u are talkin about is netgraph 3 .. 2 where is shows u fps, ping, in. out and all that jaz.. but i could be wrong about that even a clint can use it but i know on my server if i type ma_ranks it gives me mani stats jus not for all players...

okay, obviously you have no clue about what I am talking about, but i guess thats because you just don't know much about rcon outside of 'Mani's Plugin'

rcon stats will output something like this:

23:57:47 CPU In Out Uptime Users FPS Players

ok yes but i haven't used strait rocn commands in so long... if i wanna know those things ill jus look @ the server

I've always had rcon in place on my server. Recently, it stopped working all of a sudden, same arror about connecting to server. I let it alone, and when I rebuilt my server, rcon worked. It's back to normal.
