FPSMeter Screwed my server
#1
I deceided to try fpsmeter to check on my server fps. Ok first a little bit of back ground i run my server at 512 fps and it never dips below 500. The server it self never had any problems. I ran fpsmeter and now all of the sudden once fpsmeter starts doin its thing its stuck at 64fps even after i aborted the fpsmeter and shut down the server and brought it back up. This is a Counter Strike SOurce server if that makes any difference. Im running it off XP sp3 2gigs ddr2 800 athlon 64x2 3.0ghz(dual core, single cpu) Any thought on why this happen and how i can fix it?

You need to run the fps booster again

You can't achieve 1000 fps with Windows XP. The highest I've gotten with Windows XP was 600 fps.

it is highly unlikely that the fps meter changes anything on the server. especially after a server restart everything will be the same as before, unless you changed something in the server config...
the fpsmeter only sends some rcon commands to obtain information, especially it sends regulary the stats and the status command. that does not change anything on the server.

EDIT:
Windows usually limits to 64fps without any "special" software setting the system timer to a higher frequency. Just start e.g. the windows media player (without playing anything, it just has to run) or some "pingboost" software. This has nothing to do with the fps-meter

Well im not sure why it did it but it seems to be fine now because all i did was run my server then went to the fps meter and i was runnin 512fps ever since i installed the server and ran it the first time never had to use a ping booster.

You don't need a ping booster, you need an fps boosting program that raises the frequency timer, or you can just keep windows media player open.

Well no what i dont understand is why ive never had to run a fps booster since the first time i installed scrds ive goten 512fps and then all of the sudden i run fpsmeter and it drops it to 64 and even after aborting the meter and restarting the server it was stuck and 64 then all of the sudden a few hours later even without running a fps booster its back up to 512

maybe you have some program that sets the clock resolution and you just don't know about it ;-)
