Oh I do not know the mathematical way of doing it, all I know is if your going to run a GSP, you'll need plenty of bw.

Core2Quad, because Core2Quads are known to outperform the Xeon's in game server hosting, however in any other application hosting, web hosting, etc Xeon's rape.

About 3:1. Garry's Mod is really a resource hog.

So what I could get for a 60Slot CSS server, I could only get a 20Slot Garrys mod

You could just set gmod servers to below normal priority, and set tickrate to 33 and just make fps_max 33, like people that play gmod would notice.
And this is why i don't host those kind of games.

that is just a bad business idea, i know gmod is a laggy shit, but you think lowering the quality of the server would jsut make it better? i dont know what is worst the rates and fps or the piority. if you gonna host gmod host it right, no one will by a server that has quality compltely out of the equation.
resource hog... why else would gmod be exspensive??

Hmmm yes I have to agree with assmunk. If I were hosting servers I wouldn't run the servers at lower settings just because of the way gmod servers behave.

I take it this is how you run your gmod servers?

I'm sure he does...
On another note, Most of the servers I've sold have been Garry's Mod. So if you want business, Gmod is the way to go right now. They are a lot mroe work to keep up though, and can lag easier, but if the money is worth it to you, it's a good idea.

Remember, GarrysMod is ideel for Windows. Not for Linux, you'll have to use wine and do alot more.
It's not created for Linux yet.

You need to compare apples to apples, and Q9550 runs at 2.83 and X3220 is basically a Q6600 with a core clock of 2.4 :/
